I write about how people channel feeling—in language, sound, and space—as exercises of spirit. I hold degrees in Comparative Literature and Religious Studies from the University of Toronto and a PhD in Buddhist Studies from Stanford University. My doctoral dissertation, Marveling at the Dharma: On the Roles of Rejoicing in the Lotus Sūtra and its Cult in Medieval China, was the recipient of a 2024–5 Robert H.N. Ho Family Foundation Dissertation Fellowship. This research laid the groundwork for a first book project on how the Lotus Sūtra and other Buddhist scriptures do important religious work with sensation and emotion. In an ongoing critical project, I listen for the interactions of spirituality and music, especially in the work of contemporary Buddhist composers. As @venus__infers, I dabble in the book trade. I live between Victoria, Canada, and New York City.
